
Red Onion Rant!
Ok, this is a short simple post. Red onion is a wonderful pungent, beautiful onion that is generally used in salads. It has strong flavor and beautiful color and contrast. BUT… you will have onion breath all day and the flavor can overpower anything you put them in.
Certainly if you have ever had a red onion you know this. Then why in the name of intimacy do people put big honking pieces of red onion in salads and dishes????
Trust me, no one likes it. They don’t!
Here is a solution. Always slice or chop red onion into small pieces. NEVER chop red onion into big chunks!
Martha tip: after you chop or slice your red onions place them in a bowl of cold water for 10 minutes. It will take the bite right out of the dog!
